Formerly the nuclear waste should have been stored in Lubmin for some 40 years and it was expected to close the repository in 2039. Recently the federal parliament agreed financing the facility until 2080 argueing with the unsolved question of final disposal for the long-term radioactive material. Activists suspect Lubmin to become de facto a final repository for the stored nuclear waste.[1]
